I took this picture the very first day i just bought a Fujifilm camera. I did not read the manual yet so i did not know exactly how to handle the camera. But being a photographer i knew more or less how to use it.
I went to an optician to order new glasses. Sitting at the office of the salesperson, i suddendly saw this wall in front of me, with customers reflected in the glass. I took my camera and pushed the button.
Symbolically it is very interesting that I did this picture the very day i bought new glasses / new eyes for the photographer that i was. Particularly as i consider this photograph as my best photograph ever, and i have been a photographer for almost 10 years now.
This picture is visually beautiful of course, with the lines, the colors and the composition, but more important it is ambiguous, even strange, with a ghost-like human presence which leaves room for the viewer to imagine and finish the picture in his head.

I kept the camera for years, even if i quickly understood i prefered to shoot with my Canon 5D and then R5 camera. The camera had given me the best picture of my life so far, so i had to keep it.

This photograph was shown at SAIF exhibition at Oscar Niemeyer’s Siège du parti communiste francais, in Paris, France in 2019.
